Specialising in all areas of commercial horticulture production.
ADAS is home to the largest horticulture applied research group in the UK. We cover five operational themes to deliver sustainable intensification of horticulture production systems; chemicals, nutrients, substrates and growing media, technology, breeding and propagation.
We are also the only UK based group of consultants who continue to provide impartial advice to growers in the soft fruit, vegetable, protected edible and ornamental sectors throughout the UK.
We have developed a unique and well-established advisory and solution focussed relationship between our horticulture consultants, research scientists and the industry. We work with all points of the supply chain to form an essential link between growers, wider industry, the research community and Government policy. We are supported by an extensive range of ADAS scientists, including entomologists, plant pathologists, weed biologists, microbiologists, hydrologists, soil scientists, modellers, diffuse pollution and environmental experts.
We have a proven track record in being able to identify and reduce the impact horticulture production systems have on the wider environment. We report on the size and value of the horticulture industry across the UK and provide regular updates on the industry to Government.
We also produce technical notes covering: Fruit, Vegetable, Protected Ornamental and Hardy Nursery Stock. Notes are published regularly and circulated widely to growers, advisers and the supply industry.
