Are you a pig farmer achieving a good standard of animal welfare because of welfare enhancements?
We are working with the University of Bristol and the Royal Agricultural University to assess ways to incentivise better welfare on pig farms. This Defra funded research is to inform the development of future voluntary funding schemes for pig producers to improve animal welfare.
We are looking to speak to farmers who have:
- Free farrowing systems
- Temporary crate systems
- Pigs with intact tails
- Straw bedded systems
If you are willing to discuss your experience with us and provide access to your welfare and performance records, we can pay £100 for your time.
Participants will need to fill out a short online survey about their farming system and welfare enhancements. There will be a follow-up call with a researcher to discuss costs and welfare benefits in more detail.
Contact our livestock consultant Jon Walton firstname.lastname@example.org or call 07467482253 to register your interest.
All data collected will remain strictly confidential and any farms that take part will not be identifiable in the results.
