Government announces new dairy response fund to help English and Welsh farmers

Published on

A new fund to assist dairy farmers in England and Wales who have been hit hard by the impact of COVID 19 was announced by Defra and the Welsh Government. The fund will aim to cover up to 70% of the losses of farmers who have been worst affected by the sudden drop in dairy demand in April and May.

Grants of up to £10,000 will be offered and the fund is now open to applications. The application deadline for the Dairy Response Fund has been extended to midnight on Friday 11 September 2020.

The fund is open to any dairy farmers in England and Wales who have experienced 25% price losses in April and May. No cap has been set on the number of farmers who can apply.
