This farm event aims to highlight the practical and cost-effective steps you can take to reduce the likelihood of rainfall and runoff causing problems and damage in the farmyard.

Find out about the benefits of sustainably managing yard waters and separating clean and dirty water, with updates on the latest legislation (NVZ, SSAFO, Farming Rules for Water), and grant funding opportunities.

BASIS & NRoSO applied for

The aim of this event is to advise farmers on how to better manage rainfall and runoff in the farmyard, it will include a farm walk and discussions on:

  • Appropriate water management methods in the yard for both clean and fouled runoff.
  • How to reduce the source of pollutants from the farmyard, break and slow flow pathways and protect water bodies at risk of pollution.
  • The economic and environmental benefits to sustainable runoff management and the farm.
  • The importance of runoff management in meeting SSAFO & NVZ regulations and Farming Rules for Water.
  • Options available to improve yard infrastructure through available grant schemes.
