It is now even easier to apply for the scheme because the RPA have removed the requirement to submit evidence at application stage. This means that you have to do less to make an application and will help the RPA to process them more efficiently.
There has been negative press about payments recently, but this shouldn’t put you off applying for the Scheme. While there have been delays to farmers receiving Countryside Stewardship payments, the RPA have been able to issue bridging payments in the past under Countryside Stewardship. Mid Tier offers a good opportunity to be rewarded for delivering environmental benefits while continuing to be able to farm productively. Unlike ELS, Mid tier also includes capital items for work such as boundary restoration, fencing watercourses from livestock, improving gateways and installing guttering on farm buildings.
Application packs are taking as little as 20 minutes to arrive, using the new on-line pack request process which is accessed through the Rural Payments Service pages. You must request your application pack by 31st May 2019 and the application needs to be completed and submitted by the 31st July 2019.
Come and find out more about what the Scheme can offer you by attending one of our free events. At the event, you will also be able to book onto a 1:1 clinic where an adviser will be able to work through opportunities for you on your farm.
