AHDB Second potato lifting report 2020

Published on

The second potato lifting report is now available on the AHDB website.

Up to 20 October, an estimated 77% of the national potato area (including both early and maincrop potatoes) had been lifted, with the harvest of earlies now complete and maincrop harvest well underway. Heavy downpours caused some localised water logging where field drainage was poor and also caused a pause in lifting. Although conditions remained unsettled into WE13 October, rainfall was patchier and fields were able to drain allowing lifting to resume across all regions, WE20 October was drier and ground conditions improved further allowing for a greater rate of clearance.
