Earlier this year, RSK acquired the business, operating assets and employees engaged in the business of ACIES Civil and Structural Ltd (ACIES), a property and construction consultancy working throughout the UK and worldwide.
This is an exciting development for RSK’s expert witness offer, as ACIES is a well-established provider of expert witness services in civil and structural engineering, and adds to the wide range of specialisms RSK and ADAS have.
ACIES is highly experienced in giving professional expert opinions for all levels of legal proceedings and dispute resolution, and can often provide a valuable service in assessing the technical aspects of a potential claim or dispute before it gets to the litigation stage.
ACIES managing director, Mike Rudd told Expert Witness more about the business and some of its projects. Mike, one of the business’s founding directors, has over 30 years’ experience as a consulting engineer particularly in compiling defect reports and advising on remediation work.
He is now increasingly in demand as an expert witness in the UK, Europe and the Middle East, and has four open cases at the time of writing. Although unable to comment specifically on cases, Mike says that he works both on civil and criminal casework.
When asked what qualifies him to act as an expert witness he said that most of his time is still spent doing the work rather than working as an expert witness. It is the project work of ACIES that sets it apart and Mike sees his casework as an opportunity to learn from others’ mistakes and to improve procedures and practice.
