We're proud to announce that ADAS has once again correctly identified 100% of blinded eDNA samples in the 2019 eDNA proficiency test, one of only 2 labs to do so in the current round of testing.

ADAS achieves perfect score in eDNA proficiency testing

The proficiency testing scheme has been developed to provide evidence of the level of quality in the service offered by the different eDNA testing labs. For underperforming labs, this provides them with an opportunity to recognise and address any problems with their procedures so that they can improve their service. For ecologists using eDNA as a survey tool, it allows them to compare the services offered by each testing lab and the opportunity to discuss with their eDNA analysis supplier how they performed.

The results of the 2019 eDNA GCN proficiency tests are now available. This latest round comprised ten different unknown samples to analyse, labs provided their own eDNA kits so that any level of sample degradation/recovery could also be monitored. 2 out of 8 laboratories correctly identified all samples, (5 of 9 labs spring 2018), two laboratories reported false positive detection in negative controls.

The table below shows the full results of the test. Highlighted is the ADAS eDNA lab service (Lab 1 in this test iteration), who again identified all samples correctly. We do not know the identity of the other laboratories taking part.

I: Inhibition detected
ND: Inhibition not detected
