The ADAS Modelling and Informatics team has some exciting new opportunities on offer for the right candidates.
You will join a multi-disciplinary team of research scientists and consultants located across the UK. The post holder will work within the Modelling & Informatics group but will be expected to bridge across to the crop physiology/ protection, soil, policy & economics, sustainable food & farming and ecology groups within ADAS, as well as more widely within RSK. The core elements of the Modelling & Informatics group’s expertise are;
- digital data collection;
- remotely sensed data sourcing and utilisation;
- data management & analysis;
- mathematical modelling & tool building;
- GIS analysis & cartographic services; and
- software development and programming.
Examples of common project themes include catchment management; precision farming applications; yield enhancement; resource use efficiency (e.g. nutrients and pesticides); land use and land use change; land management; ecology; planning constraints and environmental policy.
We work with governments and their Agencies, utility companies, universities and innovation funders to identify, develop and implement practical solutions to support a wide range of environmental challenges for a wide range of end users.
We are looking for a qualified statistician to support our team and others in the ADAS business in the design and analysis of agricultural trials, as well as the application of state-of-the-art statistical techniques in a wide range of research and consultancy projects.
This is an opportunity for talented individuals with a desire to pursue a career in applied statistics and who enjoys actively looking for opportunities where statistical thinking could have a positive impact on a project and deliver a more robust and innovative solution. You will want to work directly with scientists to help set study objectives, determine optimum experimental design, and analyse results.

- Have a postgraduate qualification in statistics
- Are able to work well in a team and communicate statistical concepts to non-statisticians
- Are rigorous in your approach to problem solving, with excellent attention to detail.

The roles will be based in our Wolverhampton or Bristol offices. Both have onsite parking and the mainline railway station is a short walk away. However, working from other ADAS office locations or home working may become possible for the right candidate in due course.
