Outstanding opportunity for an early stage scientist with a background in hydrogeology who we can develop and grow in a dynamic, commercial organisation that prides itself on delivering novel solutions to seemingly impossible problems.

The role:

We are seeking to grow our team offering groundwater risk assessment and monitoring solutions further to accommodate increasing demand for these services.  We are looking for an early stage scientist with a background in hydrogeology, who we can develop and grow into a Groundwater Risk Assessor in the area of chemical contaminants; to provide high level consultancy in groundwater risk assessment and monitoring, primarily in the context of the registration of plant protection products.

This will involve:

  • Providing high level consultancy in this area including: analysing existing and collected  physico-chemical,  hydrogeological and groundwater monitoring data; spatial assessment using GIS, groundwater modelling including model parametrisation, calibration and validation/evaluation; applying higher tier approaches to solve specific regulatory problems; and production of high quality regulatory documents.

  • Managing the delivery of groundwater risk assessment and monitoring projects, for commercial clients, throughout the complete project cycle.  This will include managing all commercial aspects, from the conduct of desk based modelling risk assessments to the deployment and management of resource and equipment for field studies, management of sub-contractors and the placement and monitoring of field studies.
  • Contributing to the sales process and the development of client relationships. Representing CEA externally to a range of corporate and government clients, at all times maintaining and building CEA’s reputation and relationship with clients.
  • Writing high quality summary reports, conducting literature reviews and web-searches.

Successful candidates will:

  • Hold at least a graduate degree (or equivalent) in a relevant scientific discipline, e.g. hydrogeology.
  • Provide chemical regulatory consultancy by interpreting, summarising and drawing conclusions from scientific and technical references, guidance and statutory documents, to the required standards and regulations.
  • Be able to: manipulate large data sets using R/Excel/Access; manipulate spatial data using GIS; parameterise and run groundwater chemical fate models; code using python or similar programming language would be an advantage.
  • Write clear and accurate documents for submission to clients and regulatory authorities, ensuring that deadlines are met and delivery is within the time allowed.
