About Us

Established for over 75 years, ADAS is unique within the environmental, agricultural and rural sectors. Our strong scientific and research skills provide us with an evidence base on which we are able to deliver real solutions to our clients. Through our experienced specialist consultants, we deliver specific, strategic and policy advice, as well as applied/strategic R&D.

Science underpins all of our work and is key to the delivery of evidence required to develop sound and innovative policy solutions for government and corporate clients. We have offices throughout England and Wales, with over 500 staff delivering national and international projects in 60 specialist subjects. This is supported by health, environment and quality systems, standards and certifications, including ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and Good Laboratory Practice (GLP).

Our Values

ADAS is committed to the continual review and improvement of operating practice and robust corporate governance.  We have four key values:

Responsibility: We work to build positive relationships with our clients and each other. We are personally accountable, solutions-focussed and work within a comprehensive in-house quality management system (QMS).

Curiosity: We are driven to identify and deliver the solutions required by our clients. ADAS has an open, honest and engaged culture that encourages the sharing of knowledge and discussion of issues in a positive manner.

Energy: We take the initiative to make things happen, project a positive attitude and act as a catalyst. ADAS consultants work wholeheartedly to develop effective solutions for our clients

Results: We are results-focussed in everything we do.

A Responsible Business

Our relationship with clients and suppliers

ADAS is a client-focused business delivering high quality professional services and adding value to clients’ businesses by providing them with sustainable solutions.

  • Where client requirements appear contrary to environmental and social interests, we actively seek an alternative approach.
  • We will not participate in projects that may be environmentally or socially damaging.
  • Client and supplier feedback is actively encouraged and used to further improve the delivery of our services.
  • We procure goods and services from suppliers who share our principles and can demonstrate a sustainable approach to their own activities.
  • We work with all our suppliers to constantly improve our performance and reduce our carbon footprint. Where we identify unacceptable performance in the supply chain we will instigate urgent remedial action.

The natural environment

ADAS is committed to ensuring that the needs of the natural environment are fully taken into consideration across all of its activities, to help achieve “living within environmental limits”.

ADAS is actively working to:

  • Maintain, and where possible, exceed compliance with current environmental legislation.
  • Anticipate the demands of future policy and regulation.
  • Demonstrate the positive impacts we can bring to bear through our professional advice and services to our client base.
  • Assist clients in developing their own environmental policies leading towards certification to ISO 14001 and reducing their carbon footprint.
  • Inform environmental policies and programmes through our projects with government.
  • Achieve efficient, sustainable use of resources such as water and energy.

Our role in the community

ADAS is committed to an active role in the local communities within which it operates, contributing towards local sustainability.

Whenever possible we are working to support our local communities by:

  • Using local suppliers and local, seasonal produce with a low carbon footprint.
  • Encouraging staff involvement in local charitable organisations, voluntary sector groups and community projects.
  • Developing alliances with local businesses and communities that will be of mutual benefit.
  • Consulting with neighbours on new capital projects.
  • Providing training opportunities/work experience for local school/university leavers.
  • Supporting initiatives that bring together key industries to debate, influence and promote sustainable activities.
